Just a reminder that the running program during the winter is an off season program designed to be coupled with a strong dose of strength work.  We as humans and athletes run best when we are cyclical in our exercise patterns.  Doing the same thing day in and day out leads to burn out and plateauing.  During the winter, lift heavy, run less (but still run) and sleep alot and know that more mileage and more running days are coming soon.

20120210 Stand In

For today we are going for a recovery effort:

- 60 min run with heart rate under 150 bpm

For some this will be so slow its almost like walking...do it anyways.  A HR of 60-70% is very important for building the aerobic base and can be a great run when used as a recovery effort.  So put some tunes on and get after it.

Goodbye Civilization

Quick workout today.  You'll spend more time on the warm-up than the workout.  Make it count.
- Warm-up:
     - 10-min jog
     - 20m high knees
     - 20m butt kicks
     - 50x squats
     - 20m karaoke (both sides)
     - 20m lateral skips (both sides)
     - 20m lunges
- Workout:
     - 4 rounds of:
          - 30-sec Hard
          - 30-sec Recover
     - 4 rounds of:
          - 60-sec Hard
          - 60-sec Recover
- Cool-down & Stretch
 
I finally got some vacation, so I'm heading as far away from civilization as possible.  I passed Ben and Shane the next few workouts, so they'll be posting them up.  Hope you all enjoy them.
